We tried to come up with the easiest way to have a World Cup competition, and hopefully, this will be okay. We've charted the groups- choose the winner and the runner-up, then follow the chart from there. Fill it out and post it here, or if you have trouble attaching it, let me know and I'll save it to the FC server and post it for you. Here's the file; save it to your computer and go from there! Looks like I made a mess of my guess work regarding some teams. Also didn't factor in the possibility of some matches ending in a draw. ;D

These are the group stages and there are still 2 rounds left. It's who comes top and second of each group once all 3 matches have taken place. BTW I hope you Americans appreciate our very kind gift on Saturday. Just call us generous Apparently Rob Green went back to the dressing room and put his head in his hands......and dropped it.

Also didn't factor in the possibility of some matches ending in a draw. ;D Nope, as top said, they all have to play each other in the group once, and it's whomever gets the most points in the group that goes through. The teams get 2 for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. So even though England only got 1 point for the draw against the USA, they can still finish top of Group C. It all depends! Things will clear up a bit once June 26th comes along and it gets whittled down to the final 16.

Why is Ivory Coast and North Korea playing? Even if Ivory Coast wins this match they'll still not move to the second round. If Portugal loses to Brazil with their 7 goal victory in the last match they are guaranteed to move forward. BTW who'd thought there is so much melodrama in Football ;D And Roman Machine not participating? Pourquoi pas?

I can't pry her away from the TV long enough for her to list her picks! I will say she has 15 points in my work pool, which is the exact same as our pool here. We should have done a re-pick for the second round, because a lot of us got blind-sided by the England/USA group as well as the France/Mexico group. And the Italy/Paraguay group.

Jilly, I think you're winning! ;D
If my math is right, you have 14, top and I have 13. We'll see if we can get RomanMachine to post hers before the quarter-finals.

I guess there's no point in posting my group predictions now, eh? Sorry I'm so late to the game. The World Cup has taken over my life! 3-4 matches a day?! It took everything I had to keep up with that. These are my original picks for the rest of the tournament. In her work pool, we've actually done a re-pick for the knockout stages because so many of us were caught out by the crazy results. If everyone agrees, Coolbyrne will post a new form for the quarterfinals, so all of you can re-pick. Unfortunately, we didn't think about it until today, so it might be too late for the round of 16. Game 49 Winner Group A Greece Runner-up Group B Game 50 Winner Group C England Runner-up Group D Game 51 Winner Group D Germany Runner-up Group C Game 52 Winner Group B Argentina Runner-up Group A Game 53 Winner Group E Holland Runner-up Group F Game 54 Winner Group G Brazil Runner-up Group H Game 55 Winner Group F Paraguay Runner-up Group E Game 56 Winner Group H Spain Runner-up Group G Game 57 Winner Game 53 Brazil Winner Game 54 Game 58 Winner Game 51 Germany Winner Game 52 Game 59 Winner Game 49 England Winner Game 50 Game 60 Winner Game 55 Spain Winner Game 56 Game 61 Winner Game 58 Brazil Winner Game 57 Game 62 Winner Game 59 Spain Winner Game 60 Third Place Runner-up Game 61 Germany Runner-up Game 62 FINAL Winner Game 61 Brazil Winner Game 62

Jilly, I think you're winning! ;D Hey Jilly, you'll have to join the fantasy league this year. Roman and I could do with some help in knocking Coolbyrne off her perch (champion two years running ) Fine by me. Sooooooo nervous about this afternoon. It's Mr TC's birthday as well. It's 30 degrees, the barbecue is on standby. WARNING - a 'too much information' moment alert - the last time England played Germany in the world cup was 4 July 90. Our daughter's birthday is 4 April 91. Do the maths..............

I think it's a good idea for a new form for the quarters because it's all confusing when i look at my map. When do you plan to post it Coolbyrne? We could still do it for for tomorrow's round of 16 if you post it today.

Roman and I could do with some help in knocking Coolbyrne off her perch (champion two years running ) Perhaps. I take it England won in that game? In Today's match England had a few chances for making goals Gerrard had atleast 4 kicks but many of the shots were inaccurate and missed going in the net. Plus the horrible bad luck in disallowing Lampard's goal. His other 2 shots hit the top rail and missed the net. Germany played precisely into the net and were rewarded with 4 goals.
