Sorry to hear this show is ending. I enjoyed the one season that aired on BBC America last spring. Deeply, darkly, disturbing but very good.

I have it on very good authority that the cancellation is down to an excessive budget for blue plastic bags

I have it on very good authority that the cancellation is down to an excessive budget for blue plastic bags Someone on the Val board had the temerity to say what a lot of us were thinking- that is, the quality of the show has gone down since Hermione Norris left. It, for me, has become a bit of a generic cop show, with Tony playing more of a "cop" role. The Texas episode was probably a bit of a death knell as well, in terms of not only storytelling, but the budget, too. Strange though that Coastal hasn't simply tried selling it to another station. I wonder if they will/are?

Is she still railing against this ridiculous stance? She had a very public disagreement with Ian Rankin in 2007 about the very same thing. I understand her point (why is it when men write violence against women, it gets a pass, but when I woman writes the very same thing, it's unconscionable), but really. Someone's pushed her buttons again and she can't resist raising the rallying flag. Maybe she should concentrate on finding her muse next time, before she writes the next Tony/Carol book.
