Those were my exact thoughts too cb. The whole article is very strange because it gives the impression that she, actually, doesn't want to go!
Like you say, it's not like NY where older actors at least get the possibility of work on Broadway.
There was talk about this 10 years ago when BG first finished and, even then, the consensus was that she was too old (I hate the fact that it is so but it's the reality).
Very, very odd to do this just at the very time your child needs stability as they embark on school. I could have understood it when the child was small but now seems the worst possible time, especially given that she appears to have got a regular part in a drama here.

So Simone and family are immigrating to the concrete jungle that's Los Angeles?lol CB and TC she's going eventho she gives the impression she doesn't want to go. There's a simple reason for that. As a holder of a brand spanking new green card she has certain obligations like having a permanent address filing US income tax returns etc. or it becomes invalid! She can still visit UK.

There seems to be an odd contradiction with her choice, though. You don't need a green card to work in the acting field in the US- that is one of the work exemptions. She just needed to be booked for an acting job- any job. She could have gotten an O1 Visa and it's good for up to 3 years. A green card seems so much more permanent. And I agree, top- what an unusual decision in terms of her daughter. Why now, after all this time?

Yes I understand the obligations once there but why go at all?? The article states that she applied 2 years ago and it has turned up out of the blue. I just think it is a strange choice at this stage of her life, given that she's just got another role in a British TV series and her daughter is ready to embark on her education.

Yes I understand the obligations once there but why go at all?? She has 12 months* 6 months time frame to decide once the visa arrives, so she can't just sit on it and do nothing. She must've gone for an interview for the visa once all the paper work is done/accepted so she must've been prepared for it's arrival. According to the article I also have a friend who is a writer who is pitching a TV show so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that is picked up because that would be a great start. That can be interpreted as new better paying acting job is expected by her. And also her husband is searching for work in Hollywood. So can we call them economic migrants? * Just making a correction

So a 2004 movie short of Simone posted on YT in 2009 makes an appearance on Splodgy. Nothing to do with burying the latest Mandana news right?

Nothing to do with burying the latest Mandana news right? Jilly, it's always the same. Prior to the late posting of Mandana news, there had not been a post in that forum since Oct (an old resurrected thread by a new poster) and before that July. We get a new Mandana related thread and, within 24 hours, a Simone one was posted. I swear that if Mandana got a Hollywood role opposite George Clooney (I wish ) someone would start a thread about Simone's teeth/accent/hair just to bury it.

Don't forget drooling over her boobies, arse etc Seriously the inside page is full of threads dedicated to Simone and her wotsit and just one thread for Mandana. And yet they're always banging on about balance!!

Seriously the inside page is full of threads dedicated to Simone and her wotsit and just one thread for Mandana. And yet they're always banging on about balance!! I guess it could be that any Mandana fans who wish to discuss her performances really do just post or visit here these days. There doesn't seem to be much interest elsewhere. As a result, the small amount of posting purely relates to Simone and Mandana news just gets buried. I am copying a quote from coolbyrne that I think hits the nail on the head as to the reasons why: This is why I hold the personal belief that Mandana Jones doesn't get the interest outside of Bad Girls that Simone Lahbib does. Well, I have two theories on that, actually. First and foremost, it appears most of these hardcore fans are Helen fans. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that the majority see themselves as Helen- this intelligent woman who struggled with coming to terms with her own sexuality. Who also happened to fall in love with an incredibly hot woman...... people don't see SL when they watch WitB or MotG- they see Helen Stewart. Sure, the characters are different, but these fans have developed a large enough sense of suspension of disbelief to gloss over that fact. That is to say, Alex is really just Helen doing something different now that she's left the prison service......Of course, my bias would naturally indicate I feel the opposite about Mandana- I think she has a wide range of emotions and has the ability to portray a murderous lesbian, a psychotic woman, an intelligent scientist, a wayward Brit in Spain, etc. But the less she is like Nikki Wade, the more she's ignored, because the diehards don't want anything to shatter their myopic view of Bad Girls. What is even sadder is that 'the first and most comprehensive website dedicated to the actress Mandana Jones' messageboard of 'Mandana News' has the lead thread 'Mandana returns to work' and it's dated 2008. Says it all really

In her latest role in Casualty they expected to see Nikki! Well, I think it just goes back to coolbyrne's quote. It's interesting that there appears to be a freedom to dismiss Mandana's roles as 'disappointing' at every turn. Her co star can appear in a 10 minute piece that seems to have no point other than to watch her and her old man simulate copulation and it's Shakespearian.

I see that Simone is joining the cast of Downton Abbey. This information is bought to you courtesy of The Sunday Times, not a Simone Lahbib official website. I can understand a lack of updates on 'the oldest and most comprehensive' website dedicated to Mandana as it is not official (and, lets be honest, little to update) but I wonder what Simone was expecting for her money when she bestowed the 'official' status on her site?

Downton Abbey- Besides Mandana Jones and Robson Green, is every English actor in this thing? (Or "Game of Thrones"!" 2. They have lives, you know!!
