I'm thinking of putting this quote (or at least a part of it) in the wikipedia write-up I'm doing, and I'd like to be able to cite it. Problem is, I can't find the original article.
'I worked as an usherette, selling Toblerone and souvenir programmes, at the Piccadilly Theatre where Mutiny was on with David Essex and Sinnita. There was this one rock number that David Essex sang that went: "Hell! I live in Hell! Hell, Hell burns free!" I had to listen to that eight times a week. I remember once I was up in the gods and I started crying because I had had enough of hearing that song!'
Help?

Happy New Year!
This quote came from the interview Mandana did for her page in the BG book.
There are some other little titbits in the book and photos that are not online anywhere (one of MJ with Alycia and Lindsey visiting a prison with quotes from Lindsey in respect of Ms Jones' inability to stop talking.....). I could scan them if you like?

Edited to add- apropos of nothing, I happen to love Toblerone. I get one every year for Christmas in my stocking. Got two this year.

Was she crying because of the song or because after graduating from a top school she was doing a bottom of the barrel job. And who is David Essex and Sinnita- never heard of them.

jilly, jilly, jilly. Mr Essex was one of my earliest hormonal moments . He was rather lovely and a concert of his was one of the first I attended as a teenager. He's a British pop star - at his height in the 70's. He recorded' Rock On', 'We're going to make you a star' and 'Silver Dream Racer' and starred in the film 'That'll be the Day'. He then recorded 'Oh What a Circus' and originated the role of Che Guevara in Evita. He was also Jesus in the original West End 'Godspell'. Given Mandana's turn of phrase during many of her tv interviews, I suspect it was said tongue in cheek and didn't really mean that it made her cry. It was just an interesting way to say the song sucked. The show bombed and got dreadful reviews. It was the start of the decline of Mr Essex's career really. Mutiny opened in the summer of 1985 which would have coincided with Mandana leaving school (a final year would finish in May). Her drama school course would not have started until the autumn (Sept). To be fair, it was probably a filler job.

What a fantastic response, Top. ;D I thought I had got Mandana well by now, but obviously missed her dry sense of humor. Damn. And yes David Essex really rocks his looks and hair.
