I'm a bit jaded when it comes to the Olympics (professional athletes allowed to compete?), but I will say kudos to Danny Boyle for the opening ceremony.
Especially Bond and Her Majesty. ;D

The opening ceremony certainly made me proud to be British. Everyone was buzzing the next day.
The whole transformation from a country village fete to the industrial revolution was spectacular - especially the Olympic rings.
Other highlights included the Bond sequence (we were praying it was Her Maj and not Helen Mirren pretending), Rowan Atkinson and Chariots of Fire, Mary Poppins decending from the roof, the arrival of the British team with Sir Chris Hoy holding the flag outstretched in one hand and, of course, the amazing effect of the torch being lit. It really did seem like a celebration of people.
Unfortunately, our performances have yet to match the ceremony!
