Yes, the foul-mouthed chef. I confess, I have a weakness for him, but I'm not the only one. Coolbyrne will back me up on this, and probably plenty of others as well, since the man has had several tv shows. Currently, he has three (I think) - Hell's Kitchen, The F Word and Kitchen Nightmares. I first saw him on Hell's Kitchen (USA) and, even through the dodgy editing, I was intrigued. I've seen all three shows now and I have to say, Kitchen Nightmares is probably my favorite. I love the format and the fact that you get to see just what it takes to run a restaurant. Also, I think KN shows a different side of Gordon. Despite the swearing, he seems to genuinely care about the staff. Also, he doesn't just stand back and dictate what needs to be done. He gets right in there and helps out whether it's teaching the chef how to cook or cleaning out a filthy kitchen. So, does anyone else share the Gordon love or would you rather see him off your tv for good? Oh, and here's the part where Coolbyrne shows up and tells her story of meeting Gordon in London.

Oh, we just love Gordon in our house. Is the Kitchen Nightmares the British version or has he done a US version?
The F Word is good as well, although I had to leave the room when he had Trinny and Suzannah the pigs........

Kitchen Nightmares is the British one, though I've heard they're thinking of doing a US version. I always recommend Kitchen Nightmares to people who only know him from Hell's Kitchen and think he's an asshole, because I think it's as close to the real Gordon as we get to see. (With The F Word being a close second, but Hell's Kitchen being almost a caricature of him.) And I did meet him in London, back in October for a book signing- the same day I was flying back to Canada! Almost missed my flight- takeoff was 3pm, I got to the gate at 2:55. But it was worth it. He hugged me, kissed me on both cheeks, called me "my darling" and wished me a safe flight. ;D ... not sure I could work for him, though!

Oh, that episode of The F Word airs here tonight and I don't think I'll be able to watch it. I respect him for showing the slaughtering process as is, but I have a longstanding affinity for pigs, so I think I'll have to pass on that one.

Saw this on another board and it made me laugh. And our esteemed RomanMachine has some pretty nifty Gordon icons of her own. (Self-pimping: the cartoon of Gordon was drawn by me; made better by RM. *grin*)

I've just read this thread. I do like GR. I've seen KN on our pay TV channel - Foxtel, and really enjoyed it. I also have one of his cook books titled JUST DESSERTS.

The new series of Kitchen Nightmares has just started here. He went to France for one episode and it was priceless just to see a mad chef trying to attack GR with a meat cleaver

The new series of Kitchen Nightmares is based on US restaurants. We have watched with horror as Saint Gordon of Ramsay has been called 'an asshole' or amazingly told 'you don't know what you're talking about'. How on earth can these people question his reputation when their restaurants are failing??? The best was a restaurant in LA where the arrogant owner saw himself as some form of Hollywood star. He just had no clue and would not accept anything Gordon said. The restaurant has now closed apparently Yes, we saw British chefs resisting change but I cannot recall anyone ever questioning his credentials. The only disappointment is that, unlike the British shows, he doesn't go back to see his results.

Ah! Those were the ones that aired here in North America in the fall. Is that the only episode of the US restaurants you've seen? Because if so, boy, are you in for a... hmmm... well... "treat"? The US version isn't even in the same league as the UK one, unfortunately. Lots and lots of manufactured drama and villains, no Ramsay voice-over (which explained so much in the original), and the quickest personality transplants ever recorded on film. I think you've seen the pizza guy one, top. He wanted to franchise his 22 item selection pizza in supermarkets. What an absolute jackass. And I completely agree with you- 1. you invited this man to come look at your restaurant because you knew there was a problem, 2. the show is called "Kitchen Nightmares", 3. he's not quite a household name here yet, but if you did a bit of research on Saint Gordon of Ramsay, you'd know, well, he's Gordon Fk'n Ramsay, isn't he?? I don't understand what they thought was going to happen. I wish someone would ask them on camera before he shows up what they're anticipating, because I for one would really like to know what is going on in the vast empty spaces between their ears! There is one guy who actually comes out and says, "Who does this guy think he is??" and another (might have even been the pizza guy) who says something like, "What has this guy ever done??" Hello?? That's when I start hoping the business fails and leaves these tossers in a lifetime of debt for their stupidity.

It's not the only one we've seen. This week was a guy with mounting debt and they were serving cone shaped salad and there was an ineffectual 'manager' who was as useful as a chocolate tea pot. Gordon turned it into a steak house. I think we also have one recorded from a few weeks ago that has a pair of mad brothers (from the preview) but we haven't watched that one yet. What really gets my goat is the way he is referred to in this series as 'chef Ramsay'. Yuk, it's just so....oh I don't know...just yuk! In the UK, he is called 'chef' or plain Gordon! Do you get Jeremy Clarkson in anything? If you like Gordon, you'll like Jeremy - they are actually good friends. Jeremy presents 'Top Gear' a programme about cars but it's a lot more than that. He's just hilarious.

I know it's almost a year since the last posting here, but I'm reading other threads on the board and saw this. Have to add my 2 cents. Me and mine are HUGE fans of 'Chef' Gordon Ramsay. It runs in America on BBC America.
I'm also a fan of 'Top Gear'. I'm not into cars, but I love the show (sorry programme). I haven't seen every episode, but my fave is the one where Jeremy Clarkson races a runner . . . and loses! Classic!

Me and mine are HUGE fans of 'Chef' Gordon Ramsay. I find Gordon Ramsay's shows entertaining enough but where cooking is concerned it's all rush rush. You don't really learn any recipes as such. So it's difficult to sustain continued attention atleast for me. Tho he doesn't believe in the concept of freezers which I agree. Fresh ingredients are always preferable. I don't mind owning this Bentley Azure Convertible. ;D
