Digital Spy Former Bad Girls actor Jack Ellis has joined the case of Coronation Street as Weatherfield's new bookie on the block. The 52-year-old – who played G-Wing's twisted screw Jim Fenner for six years – will appear alongside ex-The Bill actor Matthew Crompton (PC Sam Harker) as father and son, Harry and Dan Mason. The pair are to run the Rosamund Street betting shop, a new set for which has just been built at Manchester's Granada Studios. A source for the soap told DS: "It'd be a fair bet to say that Harry and Dan both have a roving eye for the ladies. However, they're always sailing close to the wind as far as the law is concerned." Ellis is due to begin filming for the ITV soap tomorrow and will first appear on screen on Monday, December 3. If anyone is remotely interested

Every role I've seen him in, before and after BG he plays the same, a bit like you know who, a name I daren't mention.

I wonder if he's going to play Jim Fenner again? Every role I've seen him in, before and after BG he plays the same I'm afraid I agree es. From the description of this Coro character, it just sounds like Jim Fenner with a different name. Even Kika (Julie J) was playing a similar role in Eastenders and yet she can play diverse things. Same with Linda. I think it's a shame when actors get pidgeonholed. Maybe that is why Mandana isn't on our screens as much as we would like - because she's steered clear of typecasting. So far, her roles have all been a million miles away from Nikki. I have always been amazed that Ria didn't lead her on to more roles. Producers love baddies. I suppose her pregnancy came immediately after and could have hugely impacted on opportunities. Still frustrating though.

Early this summer I started rewatching Eastenders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale. ;D
BTW Linda Henry's in EE,(remember we are 2 years behind). She's not all that sassy here. She's after Phil but he's not interested.
Out of the three soaps I much prefer Emmerdale for obvious reasons the setting mostly. What are the accents of some of the characters, northern?

Re: Coronation Street. Yesterday's episode (we get two eps daily weekdays) Peter Barlow has just found out that Leanne( who he's to wed in Church soon) was cheating behind his back and he's devastated. Tracy tries to make him feel less bad by saying You don't need that scrawny little slapper. Scrawny little slapper! ;D Really I love Brit slang. Also I can't believe Peter chose Leanne over Carla. Does anyone think Carla is a bit posh for Corrie? She's always impeccably turned out.
