Anyone watching the 40billion dollar Olympics extravaganza? ;D 40b...that's a lot of lolly just for a fortnight's worth of games. So which games are you guys following if any. I've watched a total of 10 minutes at the most. Various activities. As for the medal count. It looks like a race between the US and China.

I am! My main interests are badminton, hockey, athletics, tennis (although I'm not sure it should be an Olympic sport, along with quite a few others) + anything we're, i.e. GB are likely to get a medal in. One gold so far in cycling.

This afternoon I watched a little bit of weight-lifting and judo. Really enjoyed it. ;D The judo match(women) was between a Chinese and a Korean. They both were very good but the Chinese girl came on really strong from the start and earned 10 points in the 1st 2minutes!! It was a 5 minutes match. The korean girl was assertive in the last minute but just managed to win 1 point even though the Chinese was quite breathless and seems to have run out steam.

Yep. I'm watching quite a bit of it. Like ES, I am particularly watching anything where GB have a chance of a medal. It doesn't happen too often so we have to make the most of it ;D
Two Gold's in 2 days! Fabulous swim this morning by Rebecca Adlington coming from miles back to beat Hoff. Was nearly late for work due to watching the mens synchronised diving! Not such a good result there......
I like most sports. The only one that I can't work up any enthusiasm for is the sailing. I even enjoyed the archery yesterday!

I watch when I'm able to. Friday night I sat mesmerized by the opening ceremonies which were amazing, beautiful and a little intimidating with the presence of members of the military goose stepping on the field. I watched some rowing and swimming yesterday and tonight watched gymnastics, diving and Michael Phelps (from my state) win another swimming gold medal.

Phelps is some swimmer! I hope he doesn't beat my hero's record, though. Who he you ask? Work it out. Did anyone see Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson in the badminton today? Amazing match, they knocked out the 2nd seeds from China. Not bad when Nathan hasn't been able to play for a time after ankle surgery.Hope they get the gold, but it's a big ask.

I hope he doesn't beat my hero's record, though. Who he you ask? Work it out. I am 100% with you es. I used to have this picture of Mr Spitz on my bedroom wall when I was a youngster He was beautiful. I can't actually bear the idea of his record going. Not seen any action today yet. Hope to catch up this evening. Excellent result for the badminton pair.

Yes, tc, that was one beautiful man! (I'm drooling here.) Pity he doesn't look quite like that today. I had a friend that named her beautiful Spitz dog Mark because she was such a fan of his. She specifically bought a Spitz for that reason! Michael isn't as handsome as his predecessor but I think his body is just as good if not better. I don't have that much invested in my admiration of Mr Spitz so I wouldn't mind if his record is broken in 2008. I love badminton, it's the only sport I was ever good at. I would have loved to have watched Olympic badminton!

I watched just a little of archery, equestrianism, white water canoeing and tennis today. Just a couple of minutes of each actually. There's lot of swimming, basketball and soccer which really doesn't interest me much. White water canoeing looked quite intense and difficult what the water gushing around so fast. And with equestrianism(dressage) and tennis(doubles) there were hardly any spectators in the stand. It was unusual as it was announced that all the tickets were sold out weeks in advance!

GB women's hockey team get a win, at last. Gail and Nathan bow out and Becky sets the fastest time and new Games record in the 800m freestyle. ;D Hope she can get another gold but it won't be easy.

I'm looking forward to the athletics starting today. I also rather like the cycling. The commentators are predicting 5 Golds. No doubt the reality will be a silver and a couple of bronze, knowing our luck.......

I, also, enjoy athletics and only wish I could see a medal coming from somewhere. Where's Dame Kelly when you need her! Great hopes in the sailing, cycling and rowing. We can trust the posh boys and girls to get us something.

Woooooo! Canada finally won some medals!! I don't have to completely hide my head in shame. And I can stop shaking my fist and declaring, "You wait 'til the 2010 Winter Olympics!!!"

Woooooo! Canada finally won some medals!! I don't have to completely hide my head in shame. And I can stop shaking my fist and declaring, "You wait 'til the 2010 Winter Olympics!!!" Canada used to really dominate the swimming. I didn't realise Canada hadn't been doing too well. I hold my hands up. Brilliant day yesterday in both cycling and rowing. Just watched the lightweight double skulls boys win another gold. The cycling was really exciting. I think we might bag a few more medals by the end of today, especially if there is a bit of wind on the water. Poor old Paula Ratcliffe. Apparently she limped over the line in 24th in the marathon. You have to question her decision to race on a stress factured foot after the disppointment in Athens. It was never going to be a fairytale ending. Can't see where a medal will come from in the athletics. The heptathlon girl has really struggled and she was about our only realistic chance of gold. What's happened to crown green bowls? Don't we usually win a few medals in that?

There's always Phillips Idowu in the triple jump. Mind you it depends which Phillips turns up! No doubt he'll have his hair coloured in some outlandish way but if he comes good, who cares. What's happened to crown green bowls? Don't we usually win a few medals in that? I think that event only happens/happened in the Commonwealth Games. I think they need to slim the whole Games down. What the hell has beach volleyball, softball, baseball, synchronised swimming/diving... I could go on got to do with OG? I await my hands being slapped for daring to suggest the above. ;D
