Maybe her character will be an identity theft expert who's bought in to Sun Hill when unsavoury stalker fans from 10 years past assume the online identity of a tv actress that has resulted in her feeling the need to ring up a national paper Love it..very funny ;D

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but wouldn't it be great if Mandana played DC Jo Masters love interest?!?!

The Bill website doesn't seem to be kept hugely up to date. It is still advertising previews of an episode from last week and the latest 'news' is that the programme will be on 'three times next week' - which was for 2 weeks ago The preview episode on youtube does contain a clip of an actress that looks a bit similar to Mandana. It did start me wondering what 'look' Ms Jones will go for this time, given that she changes from role to role. I still think the natural curly look she had for CUFA/Ria was her most flattering.

Unless we know exactly what role/character Mandana's playing there's no way of speculating how she's going to dress or look. CAM just mentions Nancy Randall. And she does look sexy in her natural look with just a touch of make-up. I really liked her as Ria and in CUFA. She had a very casual but stylish look....you know sartorially speaking. ;D And of course I just loved her in BG. Who could resist Mandana as Nikki. The itv The Bill site has absolutely no mention of Nancy Randall anywhere. So one wonders how big or small her role is. And the actress who you say looks similar to Mandana, are you meaning DC Grace? You know I just checked her IMDb profile. She's almost the same age as MJ but she has done a lot of work comparatively. What does this tell you? IMO, Mandana got shafted for you know why? Mandana is way better looking and talented an actress.

I'm a little way behind on this but - Nice to hear Mandana has something(!), even if it's a small and/or short role on a long running series. Sorry, never heard of The Bill (yeah, I know I know....) but the way I figure it - work breeds work It will be interesting to see how she looks, but I'm hoping that if it's a small role, at least it's a meaty one, like in Doctors. Btw, can anyone fill me in on what kind of show The Bill is? Cop show yes, but is it 1/2 hour, hour? daytime? primetime? Thanks

Um... sorry, don't know why. Why did Mandana get shafted? Just curious.

Um... sorry, don't know why. Why did Mandana get shafted? Just curious. If you didn't follow then I'd rather not elaborate. It was just my opinion anyway which many may or mayn't agree. ;D BTW it has nothing to do with The Bill or the actress. I just used her as an example.

Btw, can anyone fill me in on what kind of show The Bill is? Cop show yes, but is it 1/2 hour, hour? daytime? primetime? Thanks Hi Nikkhele. The Bill is 1 hour prime time, twice a week. There are, effectively, 2 casts - the uniformed bobbies and CID. They do have stories that overlap but they tend to have one episode that focuses on a story involving uniform and the other on CID. es/gingercat - would you say that was a fair analysis? Can't say I really followed either. I assumed you perhaps meant that you felt she has suffered from playing a gay role and it has somehow hindered her career? Must admit that, if that was what you meant then, yes, I do disagree ;D I think she has suffered purely and simply because she has taken breaks and not struck when the iron was hot - immediately after BG and, understandably due to pregnancy, after playing Ria.

Eventho Mandana was unemployed for what...two... two and a half years immediately after BG? Where she played a significant role for 3 seasons in a very highly rated show. She can't be vacationing for all that period. ;D

Quite a good one tc. Of late the storylines have covered a couple of episodes and my guess, for what it's worth, is that Mandana will figure in one of a similar nature. There should be plenty of scope for her to have a decent-sized role and be on screen for a reasonable length of time. I noticed this week that Tracey Wilkinson (mad Di) has a role and last week, Victoria Alcock,(?) of "two Julies" fame appeared. So along with Lisa-May Brice there has/is to be work for ex-BG actors.

She can't be vacationing for all that period. ;D Not sure where you got two and a half years from jilly. She completed BG in May 2001 and filmed CUFA in Sept 2002 (televised in 2003). She has been asked about the eighteen month break and responded that she decided to take time off but that her former agent also did not put her up for roles believing the roles would come to her. That is why she changed agents because she felt that the industry didn't work like that and that, despite a prominent role, a good agent should still put you out there. The moment she changed to CAM she got CUFA. So, IMO, she was probably a little niave in taking a break AND not changing her agent sooner. As for the gap from Ria in Doctor to Random Quest and the subsequent lull, I think we all appreciate the reasons but it doesn't alter the fact that, again, it was just at a time when she'd had quite a good role that could have led to more. Agreed. I just hope she isn't a peripheral role. I remember when she was in Holby. Usually, there are a couple of stories going off and it gives the guests good screen time. That week, there were about 4 stories and Mandana's was probably the smallest.

OK then 18 month break/unemployed . Agent thinks roles will come to her and she accepts that logic. And he's not wrong. Usually when you've just completed a role in a TV show with 9 million viewers you're hot property. Just think of Billie Piper after Dr Who she was inundated with scripts for all types of roles. So now you have to wonder why no script or any role came Mandana's way? Nothing to do the role she played?

I believe it was something other than the fact she played a gay character. It is a mystery to us all. She seems to have been well liked by the cast but I somehow feel she and Shed Productions were not on the best of terms at the end. Here she was, one of the most popular actors in Bad Girls and they never used her in their subsequent programs where they did use other BG actors of, IMO, lesser stature. There is something very strange about the career gap and her seeming struggle to find work given that we know how talented she is.
