Wonder why it was felt necessary to bring in a new DI? It threw me slightly because the new DI was played by the sergeant in Midsomer Murders. I half expected "hello Culley. What are you doing here?"!! Now that you mention Culley I didn't realize she was missing in last night's episode of Midsomer Murders on TVO. I didn't even notice her absence in the last few episodes. She usually has one very small scene in each ep. I like Midsomer Murders but I was starting to get a bit bored with it. But with the introduction of a new hunky sergeant it has somewhat motivated me to tune in every Monday evenings. ;D And also is it just me or are the dialogues a bit cliched compared to the other crime shows with lot of slang etc esp those that are based in London? Perhaps it has to do with genteel countryside. Det. Barnaby's wife's outlandish recipes are a bizzare addition to the story. Why does she even bother cooking them. I never see him actually eating any of them. But she just keeps making a different recipe every episode. When will she get the hint. In the 80's John Nettles used to be in another sort of a detective show 'Bergerac' which I really liked. But he was much slimmer then. The Channel Islands was a good location for the series.

He has a hugely popular radio programme every morning and used to have a successful chat show a few moons ago. He was probably single handedly responsible for Dallas being a phenominen here in Britain years ago. Anyway, he is always on about Midsomer Murders and the characters of Cully and Mrs Barnaby and the fact that they turn up randomely and usually are connected to the murders ;D In most episodes Tom will say "hello Cully! What are you doing here?" when she pops up for no apparent reason or you just know that, if Joyce Barnaby is bellringing, a bellringer will be dead within 5 minutes. It used to be that you could guess the murderer by who the biggest named guest star was. They have now changed it so that it is NEVER the guest star Cully has been a travel agent, a mobile library. She, then, became an actress and her absences are usually explained away by her 'being on tour in The Three Sisters'. The last episode I watched, she was about to marry a rock star and they fell out because he wanted to go on tour instead of honeymoon Ah now is that Sergeant Scott or Sergeant Jones? 'Twas Sergeant Scott that turned up in WITB. The whole programme is cliched.... but that's it's charm! He was indeed. That was BBC's top drama at the time.

Hi Jilly. Not sure where you are based or what series you are watching of MM. This was TVOntario program. And I think they are atleast 2 years behind you. The episode was about the Plummers family saga. The head of the family was the actress who used to be in 'One foot in the grave'. She looked very old here. Oh I see, thanx for explaining. Apart from the rock star marrying I've seen the other episodes of Cully, I think. Oh it was Sergeant Dan Scott. ;D Yup.

In last night's episode Sgt Jones trying in vain to stop a scuffle between 2 guys accidentally falls in a river bank and is drenched top to bottom. As Inspector Barnaby lives nearby , he invites the sgt to his place to dry up. Sgt Jones decides to take a wash and the audience is treated to a nude shower scene complete with a see-thru bathroom glass door. And of course what does one do while showering at your boss' house but sing O solo mio at the top of your voice ;D ;D which amuses Mrs Barnaby.
