"You betrayed me tonight. I don't want anything more to do with you. And do you know something? I don't even feel sad about it."I'm not always in agreement with AfterEllen, but this sums it up perfectly: By the end of the series, they were together in the daylight, but you can't get some words back. This ranks right up there with, "Shit happens" in terms of some of the cruelest things Helen ever said to Nikki.

Helen doesn't know what she wants. One minute she's saying it's over Nikki and the next she's telling her they still have a future if the appeal comes thru. And Nikki being totally in love with Helen is like ok whatever. Which is so unNikki like reaction. I wonder how Helen would've taken if Nikki had really called her bluff and given Helen the cold shoulder and ignored her completely everytime she came to ask a favor.

Good point. We already know it certainly would not have gone over well.
As much as Helen would probably not admit it, it was all about her.

Speaking of Nikki and Helen. TVO is showing Little Dorrit tonite @9pm. If you recall Nikki was reading Little Dorrit when Helen walked in her cell. She was looking for some sympathy from Nikki because she(Helen) was getting it from all sides. And Helen got her 1st taste of a kiss from the sexiest jail bird in the UK. ;D

I remember it quite well. The scene is forever etched in my mind.
Hmmm! I'm sitting at home. Maybe I'll pull out the DVD . . .

I actually think it's a huge shame we never saw that scenario. All we ever got was poor Nikki forever apologising. The only time Helen got a taste of her own medicine was the brief period revolving around Caroline and we all know how that ended up - Nikki with egg on her face and 'Saint' Helen coming up smelling of roses I will be honest and say there was a huge part of me that wanted Nikki to tell Helen to go take a hike outside Chix.

I will say there is a huge part of me that agrees with you. But I could make a whole new thread just about that!

I actually think it's a huge shame we never saw that scenario. Nikki was sniffy with Helen at the start but...... Helen gave books to Nikki with 'I won't say anything if you don't'. And Nikki was in lurve. She was reading books in the daytime. And dreaming of having Helen in her bed at night. That's why 'that scenario' was not available me thinks. ;D

I will be honest and say there was a huge part of me that wanted Nikki to tell Helen to go take a hike outside Chix. My comment was flippant in my earlier post. So to re-respond in earnest to this I recall when for the very 1st time I saw the last episode my reaction was of indifference and of being thoroughly bored by then. My thought was won't Nikki react badly when it is revealed that not only had Helen dismissed her as old news but come to her after Thomas made it very clear he didn't want her anymore. But it was explained that only after listening to Nikki's short speech outside the court did Helen go to see her. Again more confusion. Did Helen go to Nikki cuz Thomas dumped her and she thought she could try it again with Nikki or because of the speech? Or both? ;D So the last scene just didn't ring true and their future as a couple looked quite doubtful to me.

Did Helen go to Nikki cuz Thomas dumped her and she thought she could try it again with Nikki or because of the speech? Or both? ;D Well, I think this is what was the problem with that final episode. From the dialogue in the scene with Thomas 'I don't deny I had feelings for Nikki (there was debate at the time as to whether she said 'had' or 'have'. It was clearly 'had' IMO) to him walking. Why did the writers feel the need for all that? Why could Helen not have split from him in that whole scene when she resigned and he was mildly mocking her? She could have walked out of Larkhall, walked out on Thomas and then we'd have had the scene of her watching Nikki's release speech. Instead it did have the feeling that she went after Nikki because she'd been dumped! You could argue that Trish had to push Nikki too but that was completely different. Helen had told her they were finished 'and I'm not even sad about it'. She'd told Nikki that her relationship with Thomas 'maybe' serious. She'd told Nikki 'forget about me'. In addition, she didn't turn up at court when Nikki was clearly looking for her. At the end of it all, Nikki still ended up literally chasing after Helen, not the other way around. That was what spoilt the ending for me - as well as it all being terribly rushed into 5 minutes, having been sidelined for ridiculous stuff revolving around a character that lasted barely a handful of episodes (Virginia).
