Well, I think this is what was the problem with that final episode. From the dialogue in the scene with Thomas 'I don't deny I had feelings for Nikki (there was debate at the time as to whether she said 'had' or 'have'. It was clearly 'had' IMO) to him walking.
I'm in the 'had' camp too.
No way she could've said 'I have feelings for Nikki' to Thomas after the Nikki is old news.
She would be contradicting herself.
Why did the writers feel the need for all that? Why could Helen not have split from him in that whole scene when she resigned and he was mildly mocking her? She could have walked out of Larkhall, walked out on Thomas
Because she had decided Thomas was her future. Plus he was always crowding her and I think she felt trapped?
Also Nikki was waiting for the verdict and everything was kinda iffy.
and then we'd have had the scene of her watching Nikki's release speech. Instead it did have the feeling that she went after Nikki because she'd been dumped!
Yep. Tho I don't doubt Helen still loved Nikki.
You could argue that Trish had to push Nikki too but that was completely different. Helen had told her they were finished 'and I'm not even sad about it'. She'd told Nikki that her relationship with Thomas 'maybe' serious. She'd told Nikki 'forget about me'. In addition, she didn't turn up at court when Nikki was clearly looking for her.
Exactly that's why I don't blame Nikki for being surprised and uncertain when Helen turned up at the club.
At the end of it all, Nikki still ended up literally chasing after Helen, not the other way around.
And boy did Helen know that. That's why she waited outside so confidently.
Again it was so unNikki like. That's why it was not so convincing to the Nikki fans.
