You know in some movies there's that part where something "shocking" happens and someone will say, "What the..."? RomanMachine and I always get a good laugh over it, because come on, who would say that without finishing it with something like "hell" or "fuck"? Well, I have found one exception. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart". Ninjas, swimmers, ballerinas, food fights, Children of the Corn, angels, loin clothed dancers, fencers, candles, wind machines, Aqua Net. And pleated shoulder pads (roman machine pipes up from the futon). Pleated shoulder pads!. (She also adds, "Bonnie, when you said 'Bright Eyes', I thought it was a descriptive endearment; I didn't think you meant it literally!") I can only ask, "What the...??"

RomanMachine and I caught the end of "Scrooged" last night, which got us talking about Annie Lennox (she sang the closing credits with the great Al Green), which got us talking about Procol Harum (she covered "Whiter Shade of Pale" on her "Medusa" album), which got us talking about The Box Tops (they also covered the song). RM is a fairly big fan of Alex Chilton (mostly in "Big Star", I think), and shared this amazing bit of information with me about him. Listen to "The Letter" (probably The Box Tops' biggest hit) from 1967 and tell me how old you think Alex Chilton was at the time...
The answer is... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 17!
