Thought I'd start a thread for SCD. Tends to be a bit of an addiction in our house. So thrilled that Steph Beacham is taking part. What a character she is. I've admired her as an actress ever since Tenko in the early eighties (mind you, even her presence couldn't make me watch BG in the later series). Being in SCD she has reminded me of how funny she is and she is THE character of this series of SCD. I suspect she won't last long - purely because she is up against a whole string of young things flashing their knickers. This is a clip of her early rehearsals and a bit of an interview www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwpIDBIMnRI&mode=related&search=She did the quickstep last night and was very elegant. She should get through to next week but I have an awful feeling Kate Garraway will get the sympathy vote and Steph will end up in the bottom 2. Why have the organisers chosen so many girls who quite clearly have either former dance trainging or, as in the case of Mrs Rod Stewart, were bloody professional! It makes a mockery of the format. Two of them got '9's last night on the first week. It's a joke.

It was clearly my fault for starting a thread! The result was a disgrace and I see that it has caused quite a stir with a few folk questioning the decision over on the SCD website at the BBC. The idea to have a girls only and boys only week was ridiculous. Every woman celeb this time is better than all the men and so this means better couples are being voted off early whilst no hopers are staying in. Basically, one female competitor has been making a big deal about having tendonitis and has been hobbling around on crutches for 2 weeks. Everyone knows that, if she does have tendonitis, it is not going to go away and she will have to retire from the competition anyway. She decided to dance this week. Was really awful, making lots of mistakes and was basically dragged around the floor by Anton Du Beck. The judges, then, stupidly attacked her saying she was rubbish. Will they never learn? They know the stupid British voting public will, as a result, vote for her. Stephanie performed very well and got a good score from the judges, finishing mid table. What happens? She ends up in the dance off because said stupid public gave the other woman the sympathy vote. Then, in the dance off, she again performed brilliantly but 3 of the 4 judges decided to go with the other couple because they had 'more potential' despite them giving this couple lower marks than Steph 2 hours earlier. It turns out that the couple have been signed up to be in a tour of the show. Of course, the judges had to save her to save the tour. To make matters worse, injured woman has been muting that she does intend to withdraw. Grrr. One thing did make me smile. Over on the BBC site, the webperson of Stephanie's official site has been posting. Someone asked them if they knew of Steph's tv appearances in advance and he/she wrote "I mainly get information on the film and theatre stuff. I tend to rely on fans to help out with the tv appearances as I'm not in regular enough contact with Stephanie to keep completely up-to-date." How refreshingly honest Nice photo www.bbc.co.uk/strictlycomedancing/ images/gallery/stephanie03.jpg The result - taken in good spirit www.bbc.co.uk/strictlycomedancing/images/gallery/results2.jpg

have a feeling that this will be the shortest lived thread ever I think you're right with that tc. Criminal decision if you ask me. Kate the fake should be on her way. The men are absolutely useless this year, about as much ability as Kermit the frog! I didn't know about LD being signed up for their show. We'll just have to talk about the others now. Get that Brendan bloke off he gives me the creeps, so full of himself. I'm rooting for Aleysha(?) or Gabby.

Also there is a Tenko reunion on Paul O Grady later this week. Oh my God. Wonder if Mrs Van Meyer will have escaped from Direct Line??? She was brilliant in Tenko - the comedy relief - but I never saw her work again other than in adverts.........let that not be the similar fate of a certain person My guess of who will be on - Steph, Steph Cole, Veronica Roberts, Louise Jaimeson and Burt Kwouk. Obviously, Jean Anderson and Patricia Lawrence are, sadly, no longer with us. Thanks for that, gingercat

It was fabulous. Lots of clips and I was almost right about who was on - Burt, the two Steph's, Louise plus Ann Bell and the lady who played Miss Hassan. They mentioned Mrs Van Meyer. I had forgotted her canary was called Simone!!!
Also, guess what? The Green Flag ad played in the middle. Never, ever seen it and there it was in the middle of a Tenko reunion! It was the one with the horn going off.
It was weird hearing Steph Cole say that Tenko was groundbreaking because it was the first predominently female cast drama, written by women and 'we weren't playing someone's mother, sister, daughter or wife'. Spooky because Mandana had said almost the same thing word for word about BG.
Paul's also started a campaign for Steph to be reinstated in SCD and Tenko repeats. Bless. Don't think it will matter about SCD - it's being targetted by the BBC strikers for a blackout this week. Ha!

Criminal decision if you ask me. Kate the fake should be on her way. Unfortunately, she spends most mornings on GMTV touting for votes, as do her co presenters. Absolutely, he's such a bighead and always does illegal lifts etc. oh dear...I wouldn't watch the results tonight then. Let's just say that Garrowaygate marches on.... apparently Brucie is that gobsmacked at the result this week he makes a plea to viewers about it being about ' voting for the best dancers'. I'm afraid the show is becoming a farce due to the fact that, not only do the public vote for the personality not dancing, they also vote for the professional despite them having a lame horse for a partner.

We were totally gobsmacked when we saw the result for tonights show...I hope as I saw posted that the judges decide to boost up KG next week..perhaps a bit of reverse psychology might work to get rid of her.
