So, very quiet in here. Everybody is summering, I take it?
I was amusing myself reading some threads (S3,E2&3) on Splodgy which I had participated in. And it struck how in the Debates, there was no real debate as such. The interpretations of the episodes were shoved down the throats of the others and if anyone had a different outlook or a different explanation. Then too bad. It doesn't count and you are basically ignored and not engaged with. It's almost laughable when you read their posts. One fan (won't mention her)was all over the place with her interpretation. Another fan only participated to give her expert knowledge regarding the Governor! How is that possible? Everybody saw the same episodes but their thoughts were irrelevant?
One thread 'Nikki's rage' I read some of the comments in disbelief. How much Nikki was reduced to some rage-filled jealous restraintless inmate. It showed a lack of generosity and graciousness on their part. But on the other hand Helen was portrayed as some woman with a heart of gold. Again they only engaged with posters who agreed with their one sided view.
BTW I couldn't get hold of 'Fine Dead Girls'.

It's been quite a long time since I allowed myself to surf that site. I mean it's been YEARS. I upset TPTB and was effectively banned. The last time I checked the place out the comments were so laughable and over the top I simply decided I'd had it with the place. I mean when some idiot goes on about how in one scene Helen is portrayed as a saint because an electric fan in the background creates a halo....come on! I liked Bad Girls and I liked the characters of Nikki and Helen but these people need to get a life. Maybe some of them have moved on and are not so obsessed now, I hope so for their sakes!
Jilly, I don't know where you live but the movie "Fine Dead Girls" (which was made in 2002) is just now being released to a larger world audience. I live in the US and it just arrived at my library. It is available on Amazon and Netflix and probably at a video store near you wherever you may live. It is well worth watching and I would love to have a discussion about the film. When you first see the actress I have compared to MJ you may think I am blind but just wait and I think you will see why I think that. I think it is an extraordinary film and wish I could see some of the director's other films especially one called (I think) "I Love You". I never knew Croatia had such an interesting film industry.

Scolder-in-chief has thanked and credited a fan for posting and linking. Why the sudden friendly and amenable tone? Are they taking a hit at PayPal I wonder. Speaking of PayPal, SL's revised site doesn't have one. Has her agent warned Splodgy to stop exploiting her fans? Just kidding. ;D And if they are being amenable could they separate Mandana and Simone into two separate topics of discussion. Atleast as a gesture of respect to Mandana and her fans. It's very irksome to click and expect a photo of Mandana and get her costars instead.

Why not also show the same courtesy to mandanafc.com for the 'Occasional Strong' link? Otherwise Splodgy, what is the name Mandana Jones doing in your usernames?

Jilly, just curious, what does "dekko" mean? Also, keep searching for "Fine Dead Girls" it's a very interesting film and I would still love to discuss it. The actresses - Nina Violic and Olga Pakalovic have the same sort of chemistry Mandana and Simone had and all actors involved in this short (77 minute) film give excellent performances. Are you located in an eastern, mid-western or western Canadian one horse town?

Well, Occasional Strong is the very large elephant not in the room, isn't it? It took less that 2 days for a post of thanks to be made regarding a new Simone short that has been discovered by a fan and it was quickly posted with due credit as news on her site.
To date, the OS news has been completely ignored, perhaps in the hope that if they ignore it long enough, it might go away. The reason? 100% because this site found it and they cannot stomach the idea of having to give credit.
The difference is also because they have absolutely no relationship with either Simone or her agents and so the only way of discovering anything is via fan word of mouth etc. With Mandana, they do have contact and have built themselves up so much on the back of that within the fandom. They seem to find it hard to accept that other fans can still find things out before they do. There have been numerous occasions, despite their contact, whereby an interview or new role has been found. They, either, make a post of thanks but claim backhandedly that they already knew but hadn't got around to telling folk or they tell the fan they are wrong - only to have to come back and retract - usually with some cr*p about how the agent was on holiday or because it was a weekend and the agent hadn't got around to emailing them yet. I just don't get why they have such a problem with other people finding something new. They claim to be major fans of Mandana and, surely, that means they would want their site to be accurate and as up to date as possible. It isn't because of ego.
Changing the subject slightly, there was a quote in this week's Radio Times, from Dame Eileen Atkins - "there are two types of actress. Those who go 'love me, love me' and those who say 'f*ck you, this is what I do'". Which category do you all think Mandana falls into?

What really gets me is this isn't even new!! This has been available to be found for over 7 years! That's why we'll be waiting a long time to see this on their website- they can't fall back on their standard excuses and bullshit. What, the agent forgot to get back to them? The agent's been on holidays for over half a decade?? What?
It's been two months since the news broke of HBO doing "Bad Girls". I haven't seen it listed on any fall schedule for the station. I wonder what's going on there?

Just kidding. ;D BTW Dame Eileen Atkins was the main reason I enjoyed the 1st part of 'Cranford'. She was really good. She finds her neighbor Capt. Brown's talk about his financial penury vulgar. lol I lost interest midway 2nd part with the young love and all that.

Okay I checked a 4th store and even they didn't have it. So now i'll have to wait till it is shown on the movie channel. Whenever that's going to be. Hopefully soon. They always show most of the films that are screened at the Toronto Film festival. Only hope I don't miss it. As I'm not a big movie buff. So I don't really watch most of the stuff. dekko=look.

One of them is quite anti-Nikki/Mandana but it is camouflaged very brilliantly. That cosies up to the admins averseness to MJFC. The admins are too occupied about the PayPal readings. Hence the effusive thanking and crediting a simple link. Almost mawkish in tone if you ask me. The link is not even an access to the movie short. BTW in my previous post 'fanclub...whither' I meant the reverent one.

That's why we'll be waiting a long time to see this on their website Psst. Go and have a look in the 'downloads' bit in the fan section - right at the very bottom. It's been sneaked in. In hilariously small writing compared to everything else on the page. No mention in any update (there hasn't been one of those since April). It's still not listed in her 'work' but they have put it on the site. Of course, there is a large thank you to MJFC and due acknowledgement to Rogue Films........ It is official. They are discourteous and disrespectful. Mandana must be proud to be associated with them.

So, when do you think the addition was made? I bet they have been seething since discovering they were scooped....again. "They are discourteous and disrespectful. Mandana must be proud to be associated with them." She's probably not paying such close attention to what they are up to. Wish we could post an "Open Letter to Mandana Jones" to make her aware of their shenanigans. At the beginning their site was excellent and as the only one of its kind devoted to MJ I know we all appreciated the work they did. It's just when they started to fancy themselves the gatekeepers to all things Mandana that they let everyone down including, imo, Miss Jones. I'm not going to hold my breath for "Bad Girls" to appear on HBO's schedule. They are slower than molasses in January at accomplishing their intentions. Look at how much time elapsed between seasons of "The Sopranos" and how long it takes for them to release DVDs of their most popular programs (Six Feet Under). Of course maybe they just want to make quality programs and are taking time to ensure excellence....but....did any of you see the ending of "The Sopranos"? Of couse they did make up for that with the extraordinary ending of SFU. Thanks for the definition Jilly! If any of you do acquire a copy of "Fine Dead Girls" I hope you will post on here with your opinions. I have questions I want answered. There is supposed to be a Discussion Guide on the disk but I tried everything and couldn't access it.

Speaking of PayPal, SL's revised site doesn't have one. Does it bother anyone that both MJNet site and MJNet messageboard has PayPal splashed on it but SLNet site and SLNet messageboard doesn't. Does anybody know why that is? Or have I missed something?
